Everybody knows that scale train enthusiasts love their trains. But the truth is that the trains are just part of the whole concept of model train building. To make it more realistic and, therefore, more impressive, some scenery needs to be added to the collection. Imagine a small train looping around an oval-shape layout, that doesn´t sound like a lot of fun, but what if the same train goes through some tunnels and mountains in its way to the train station and in the center of the train layout there are a few cows grazing and some ducks swimming in a little lake. That sounds more like an elaborate scale train layout from someone who takes the time include some interesting elements to his idea. Do you feel like you´re not that creative to come up with a design that will impress others? Well, you can always look for some help. Since train modeling has become a very popular hobby around the world, it´s very easy to find hobby centers, books and guides to develop some sculpting and painting techniques to create some personalized details to your train layout. If you really want to go one step further, consider using designing software to create a unique design. Does it sound too much? There are several vendors offering such software, which means that many people consider that idea to improve their model railroads. If you don´t think that using a designing software is something you would do, then consider getting some advise from other scale training enthusiasts or reading books on the subject. Hobby shops and several vendors will offer pre-built elements for you to include in your train model. You will not be worry about not finding what you need in your train layout, almost everything is offered for trains enthusiasts, you can find train cars, lamp posts, animals, buildings, miniature people, trees, bridges and the list goes on and on.
When you´re working in your HO scale train layout there is another important factor to consider, your budget. People willing to spend more money on their model trains tend to have more realistic and complex layouts. It´s true that your imagination plays an important role in train modeling, but there are some pieces with electrical mechanisms that can´t be built easily by the average person. You have to be prepared to spend some money in transformers, bridges, tunnels and some things like those that you would not be able to create from scratch. In order to add your personal touch to your layout, you can play with water, small bushes, sands and very simple materials to create your own concept. Having these elements placed in the right place will make the whole train layout look larger. Once your train starts running on the track, all those little things will combine to produce a special effect.
